New Year and more happenings
We had a really fun New Year's Eve celebration this year to ring in 2010! We went up to Jason and LeAnne's house with my parents to spend the night. We got a babysitter for all the kiddies so we could go out to eat -- just ADULTS! That is so nice to do every once in awhile! When we got back, the younger kids were pretty much ready for bed, but we gave them some party hats and milk and their last kisses of 2009 before sending them off to bed! We watched a movie as we waited for the countdown and then semi-quietly welcomed in 2010! After that, we hit the hot tub for some late night soaking. Chris and the boys got wild as they heated up in the tub and then ran out and jumped in the snow -- CRAZY!! Leave it to Uncle Chris to always provide some laughs! The next morning we enjoyed some delicious crepes for breakfast before heading back home! It was so much fun and we can't wait to see what 2010 brings! A fresh new year with so much to be accomplished and experienced!
The girls have been up to their usual cuteness!
Kaiya is absolutely OBSESSED with hugging and kissing everything. You think I'm kidding, here are some of her usual examples -- the Santa magnets on the fridge, her toothbrush and toothpaste, her coat, her pj's, chase, and all of her bath toys every time she gets out of the bath. She even kissed the salt and pepper shakers when we went out to eat the other night! She is just full of sweetness and wants to give love to everything! It's pretty funny! She loves chocolate, and has figured out that it can make a great lotion!
She is quite the little imitator these days, too! She loves to borrow my brush and do her hair -- hairspray and all and can often be seen putting fake lotion on her legs and face and arms! Oh and the other day, we found her using a battery as chapstick -- YIKES! One of her new favorite things to do is to shut herself in the pantry (she hasn't started opening doors herself yet, lucky me), stand there in the dark, and wait for someone to realize she is missing! She will stay pretty quiet so you would never know she is in there, but if you don't come after awhile, she will start yelling "nana" or "mooommmyy" for someone to come rescue her. When you open up the door for her, she just throws her head back and laughs or acts really surprised that you found her! It's so funny!
And little Tay has been busy too! She is ohhh so close to crawling -- up on all fours and rocking like crazy! Just hasn't taken that first step yet! She would much rather be on her tummy -- the minute you put her down on her back she flips right over and is up on all fours! She tried her first lime the other night and LOVED it! Did the funny face at first but then she was ravenous for it! She was gnawing on it and every time I took it out of her mouth she would grab my hands and force the lime back into her mouth! She was drooling like crazy over that!
She also cut her first two teeth a few weeks before Christmas (on the bottom) and has been working on cutting some more in the past few days. Needless to say, that has not been a pleasant experience for her or for us! She has been soooo miserable! Just not her usual self at all :( I can't wait for those teeth to come through -- I bet she can't wait even more!
Both of the girls have been so fortunate to have so much time with grandma and grandpa (since we are still living at their house) and nana and papa have been so patient with these two crazy girls getting into everything! Kaiya loves to help grandma on the computer
and Tay lights up whenever grandpa makes his funny faces and noises at her!
We are hoping to be moving in the next few days, as it looks like things are FINALLY wrapping up with the new house! I can't even go into what an ordeal this has been, but we went and looked at the house again last week and it brought back all that excitement for us to finally be living there! I will hopefully have some pics of the house to post in the coming week. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!
So, happy New Year to everyone and may you all have a wonderful and blessed year!!
