It IS a small world after all!
Do you ever get that feeling that the world has shrunk a little bit? On Sunday, I felt that way! We had the opportunity of going to the airport to pick up a beautiful, sweet girl who arrived here all the way from India! Her name is Sunitha and she came to know my parents quite well in India before she left to come to school at Utah State! We had a great few days with her and I kept thinking all the while how crazy it was that literally days before, she had been with my parents clear across the world! She even brought some special gifts from my mom, and I loved thinking that these things had been in my mom's hands just days before! It was very special and just like Disney says, "it's a small world after all"!
Poor Sunitha had a 23 (yes 2-3) hour flight over and it was her very first time being on a plane so she was too scared to get a wink of sleep! So, by the time she got to bed at our house that night, she had been up for over 30 hours! Needless to say, she got a good night's rest! The next day, we headed off to Utah State to get her all settled! We went grocery shopping, walked around campus, met with advisors, picked out classes, visited the International Students office, and finally after all that running around, got her checked into her dorm! A co-worker of Chris' was even nice enough to bring her over a bunch of dishes and cups and a crock pot, because Sunitha had NOTHING! I almost cried when I had to leave her because I knew she was so overwhelmed and feeling lonely and nervous. But hopefully we got enough done yesterday to help her feel somewhat settled! 
What a NEAT girl Sunitha is -- so smart, soooo kind and sweet, and does she ever love children! She loved playing with Kaiya and Kaiya's cousins! I look forward to many visits up at Utah State and feel so grateful for the connection that has been made between her and us and my parents! If any of you have friends or family up that way, maybe you could pass me on their contact info and maybe they could lend a helping hand to Sunitha! Thanks!

That is really neat Karli! You know, if she needs anything, all you have to do is say the word, make a list, and post in on your blog. I'm sure you would have a truckload of things from people like myself, who are always getting rid of stuff to DI, but would happily pass it on to your new friend. (some people might even have "new" stuff to give!) She is beautiful, (and tiny!) What a wonderful experience for her.
We knew you would love Sunitha. She is really an amazing girl to tske on this overwhelming experience on her own. Thanks so much for being her mentor--she has already emailed us about your wonderful help. We never know what is around the next corner.
