Enjoying the Christmas show

We have had a really fun and really eventful week as we get ready for the holidays! It has been soooo nice to have Chris done with school and have all this free time for us to spend together! I keep teasing him saying, "Chris don't you have homework to do?" He says it makes his heart jump a bit every time I say it and then he realizes he doesn't really have any homework!! What a nice feeling!

Over the weekend, we got to do some really fun things. Friday night we went to the most wonderful Christmas concert. Our neighbor (Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband) played, along with Peter Brienholt and several other very talented musicians. It was their annual Christmas show, so it was full of fun, but also really beautiful Christmas music. I have to say it was one of the best shows we have ever been to. We both walked out of there in the best Christmas spirit! And not only that, we walked out and it was snowing, so that just added to the great Christmas mood we were in! Thanks, Ry, for the great show!

That night, we both felt a little restless, so at about midnight we went out for a drive to look at lights, and see the beautiful snow everywhere. It had snowed quite a bit, so there was just a gorgeous blanket over everything! We were driving around and found this big empty field, so we pulled over, and there, mere feet away was a herd (is that what you call it?) of deer. It was so neat because it was perfectly still and quiet, the ground covered in fresh snow, and these deer grazing. Really cool!

The next day we got up and drove up Provo Canyon to catch our annual ride on the Heber Valley Railroad. We do this every year around Christmas time. Because it had snowed so much the night before, the canyon was just amazing! We had such a great time on the train, as we always do. As were riding and enjoying the scenery, I thought to myself how happy I felt -- surrounded by such beautiful things, sitting there holding Chris' hand. It was such a wonderful day!

On Sunday, we woke up to about a foot of new snow, and it was awesome! We took Chase out to play in it and the snow came up to his belly! He LOVED it! Chris would make snowballs and Chase would try and catch them and play with them, as if they were real balls, and then get so confused when they disappeared! It was really fun! A little later, we went to brunch at some of our neighbors' house, down the road. It was a lot of fun -- about 4 couples there. Really great food and great company. It's nice to start to get to know more people around where we live. We are fortunate to have such nice people close-by! We then went up to Chris' parents house with Wes and Annie to see them before we leave for Tahoe. It's always so nice to visit with them -- we love them so much and will miss them at Christmas this year!

On Monday, we decided we had to take advantage of all the great snow we got over the weekend, so we went up to Sundance to go snowboarding with Ashley and Ryan. It was about the most perfect day you could get! The sun was shining, plenty of fresh powder on the mountain (which was really good for me, since I spent much of the day on my behind) and just a lot of fun to be out there! I'm so glad we go to go and do that!

So, it has been a very fun week for us, and we are really enjoying the holiday season and the time we have to spend together!
